The Difference between Tier 2, 3 college student & an IIT/NIT/IIM student is the Exposure to the community of like minded people!
Even in photography, Exposure makes or breaks the quality of Picture captured.
So Exposure makes the Difference in creating/grabbing an Opportunity!
Lack of Exposure might lead to Lack of Exploration which is critical for any graduates' career growth.
Being a person from rural background or studying in a tier 3 college might be a barrier for most of the students to get exposed to Exploration.
This Lack of Exposure might lead to
- Fear of communicating with strangers
- Nervous about Interviews
- Stage fear
- Afraid of others' opinion
- Self Doubt
- Lack of Thinking Big Attitude
- Lack of volunteering/ Initiation
- Comfort Zone
- Fixed mindset
And if we get Exposed to New things, ideas, people, places etc., Our way of thinking will change and it incites us to Explore more.
For any graduate during this pandemic, the primary goal is to get a Job. And in the Job scenario, a firm might prefer an Experienced candidate over a fresher.
So how a fresher can become Experienced without having any opportunity?
That's where a graduate can make a difference, He/She should have Exposure to Current Industry needs apart from the Academic knowledge.
Academic knowledge is the foundation and it's critical too. It's like ABC in English without Knowing that it would consume more time to form a Word/Sentence.
So, with your foundation you've to start building your Industry knowledge & skill.
Now, How to get exposed to Industry knowledge & skill?
During college days we have options like,
- Internships
- Industry projects
- Workshops & seminars
- Participating in Industrial competitions
- College clubs & communities
But now during this Lockdown, you've to use your Smartphone Smartly.
(Many of us misunderstood that being smart refers to looking stylish/trendy. Google it for the exact meaning)
Today everyone of us are in Social Media, but 80% of our Facebook friends are our acquaintances.
While we have an option to connect with anyone in this world, we still confined to a small circle.
Many of us don't have a Linkedin Profile. Though if we've one, we're not actively engaged in Linkedin which is a platform to link a person with right skills to a right industry. Also it's the platform, where we can expose our skills, ideas, thoughts to Industry professionals.
Please explore more about Linkedin if you're a graduate but don't just use it for Job search rather use it to expose your skills.
Thanks to Tiktok, it made many Indians to expose their interest in Art/ Dance.
Everyday spend at-least 20 minutes in your phone by exploring New things related to your field of interest. You can explore via Google / Youtube / Social media. Then your phone will automatically start exposing you to contents related to it. It'll keep you updated with current trends in your field. That's why it's called as Smart Phone.
Expose yourself with more people everyday, learn new things from each one of them. It maybe a skill, idea, fact, culture, thought process or anything that keeps you in exploration mode.
There's an App called Ablo (it's awarded as the best android app in the year 2019) where you can connect with unknown people from all over the world. Experience it once!
There are almost billion apps in play store, Everyday keep installing & uninstalling an App and expose yourself to the Technology.
It's as simple as watching a Hollywood movie than an Indian movie. Once you get that exposure, you start exploring more.
