Build a Skill, Stay Updated- You can Overcome this Pandemic Job crisis!

This is for those who are looking for an opportunity or for who lost a Job!

Again, this is based on my perspective & Experience- but I'm sure you'll get some value from it.

Skill vs Knowledge

Hope you all know the difference between both- Let me give a brief with "How to ride a bicycle" example!

Knowledge is knowing how to ride a bicycle that there's a pedal, handlebar etc., and by pedalling it runs. 

But you can't ride it just by knowing this, you've to practice many times to acquire that skill. Over a period of time that skill makes you an expert in it like you can ride the cycle leaving the handlebar. 

An expert should have both knowledge & Skill. Because having anyone of these will limit your ability.

Likewise, the Education we got over a period of 22 yrs might give you the knowledge on a particular field or it might give you the clarity to choose what you want. But acquiring the right skillset in that field makes a difference in your career!

The only Purpose of Education is Training your mind to Think! 

But unfortunately in India every student from LKG to MBA we say 'A' for 'Apple'. That's  lack of thinking.

So stop worrying and Start Thinking!

Whatever you've pursued in your Educational career, the objective is to become an expert in that field or use that knowledge to create a foundation for what you love! 

Don't be in a mindset, that you've to pursue a career related to your Education unless you have a deep passion in that. 

Anyone can learn any skill by practice, it requires only a consistent effort to acquire and you've to be as curious as you play PubG.

For example, if you teach 4 yrs of computer engineering to a curious bunch of people in 1920s they can learn that too, even-though they haven't seen a computer by that time!

Once you build a skill, you can make a career out of it by exploring the opportunities in that field. 

In India the Gig Economy is in rise- where a person with a particular skillset can work for more than one company at their convenience and got paid for what they do. Swiggy, Ola, Uber are some of the examples of gig economy. Those delivery executives of swiggy, zomato even don't know their company's owner/CEO or who pays them. 

Delivery Executive is not the only gig job, there are many websites like Fiverr, Hupstaff talent, Upwork etc., where you can post your skill and get your clients. 

In the recent Commencement speech to the class of 2020 by Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, He asks you to 

• Be open minded- so that you can find what you love
• Be impatient- so that it'll create the progress the world needs. 
• Be Hopeful- You'll prevail
